Hand-rendered watercolor study digitally layered with handwritten Spanish text transcribed from personal correspondence. The digitally overlaid photographs interrupt the painted surface, allowing image, text, and watercolor to fracture and distort one another. The work explores emotional dissonance through the misalignment of landscape, language, and memory. Developed as an early study for a larger project on return and belonging, it uses personal testimony and layered media to register instability, distance, and dislocation within the immigrant experience.
